Helvetia began as a mining camp for the Helvetia Cooper Co. in the late 1891. P.O. established in 1899, and discontinued in 1921. There is not much left, and it is hard to find - but that is part of the fun. Go I-19 south from Tuscon, AZ, to exit 63, East Continental Rd. Go east to Continental, then east on White House Canyon Rd. approx. 7.5 miles where White House Canyon Rd. splits and both splits have the same name. Take the left fork an additional 5.3 miles and a forest road turns to the left. Follow that to the ruins. The best way is to use a GPS and go to N31" 51 .531' W110" 47.231' Good Luck!
Compare the mountains in the old photo, courtesy of the Arizona Pioneers' Historical Society, and the one I took in 1999. I n the new photo, the ruins are in the left center.
